Joel McDonald
IA Director

Joel joined Stobbs in November 2018 as a trade mark attorney and has since gone on to lead the firm's growing sports practice. He and his team work with a wide range of the firm's sports and entertainment clients, providing strategic advice on overall brand strategy.

He has previously worked at large international law firms as part of their trade mark teams advising single person operations all the way up to multinational corporations on trade mark, design & copyright and domain issues. He has also previously worked in a boutique trade mark attorney firm.

Joel has a Law and Politics degree from Keele University, and postgraduate qualifications from the College of Law (LPC), Bournemouth University (Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property) and Nottingham Law School (Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property).

In his spare time, Joel tries to spend as much time as he can with his young family and watching any and all sports that he can, with a particular focus on rugby and football. He also enjoys rum and real ale and, as long as he is not the one driving, will take every opportunity to try something he has not had before.
