Off-White™ x The MET Collaborative Collection
Off-White™ x The MET Collaborative Collection

To celebrate The Met and their 2021 exhibit, “In America, A Lexicon of Fashion”, various designers are teaming up with The Met Store and Instagram to bring you a unique shopping experience.  The collaborative merchandise will be available through The Met’s Instagram shop, meaning you can buy as soon as they come up on your news feed! With the pandemic making the world more accessible online, we have seen a change in shopping habits, and a continued rise in online shopping. So, this merge with Instagram is just another step into the new virtual world.

The first collaboration is with Virgil Abloh (architect, designer, and founder of Off-White).  This is a collection that truly embodies all elements of the iconic Off-White style.  Including a selection of casual wear and accessories with Abloh‘s signature, straightforward text written across each piece.

Using Instagram as a retail platform is inevitable given its prominence within the fashion industry and its role in brand promotion.  We think we’ll be seeing more of this type of collab in future.

A successful collaboration can bring benefit to both brands but beware of certain IP issues which can arise, such as the creation and ownership of copyright and other IP rights as part of a collaboration, brand dilution and consistent use of your existing IP and protection and enforcement. The key to success is to ensure that each party’s IP responsibilities are clear from the outset to avoid issues further down the line.

Other designers, including Brother Vellies, Pyer Moss and Collina Strada, are releasing merch drops monthly until April 2022. So, keep your eyes peeled on Instagram.
