World Anti-Counterfeiting Day 2017
7 June 2017 marks the nineteenth annual World Anti-Counterfeiting Day. Organised by Global Anti-Counterfeiting Network members, it aims to increase awareness of the trade in counterfeit goods and the steps which can be taken to combat that trade.

As featured previously on our blog, the international trade in counterfeit and pirated goods is on the rise. Counterfeits are thought to account for up to 2.5% of global trade, the equivalent of the GDP of Ireland and the Czech Republic combined. Within the EU, counterfeits amount to up to 5% of total imports, meaning that this is a phenomenon which disproportionately affects developed countries.

At Stobbs we have extensive experience of helping our clients tackle counterfeits. We’ve even been featured on BBC One’s Fake Britain for our work helping to tackle counterfeit children’s night lights (episode not currently available). Our in-house investigations team (aka Sherlock) gives us the ability to track down counterfeit and pirated goods and to take effective action to stop their sale and reduce the damage done to our clients’ brands. If you’d like to know more about how we can help you deal with counterfeits, do get in touch.
