Alec Cameron
IA Director

Alec joined Stobbs as an IA Director in 2024.

Alec has over twenty years of experience in intellectual property law. He qualified as a barrister before joining the London office of an international law firm. Having spent time working in-house in IP law roles for international media organisations, he returned to private practice in 2020 joining a leading sports and media law boutique London law firm as their IP specialist.

Alec joined Stobbs in October 2024 from the IP team of a top 50 regional law firm where his practice was focussed on contentious IP law work including litigation before the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) and High Court.  His experience covers a range of IP disputes (including copyright, trade mark, passing off, breach of confidence and design and database rights) as well as IP related commercial disputes. He has extensive expertise in copyright law and the publishing and visual media industries.  He also has broad non-contentious IP law experience.

Alec has been recognised in Legal 500 publication as a ‘key lawyer’ in the IP team of his previous law firm and regularly publishes articles on aspects of intellectual property law including articles published recently in both the Solicitors Journal and Metro newspaper.

Alec’s qualifications include an MA Law from Pembroke College, University of Cambridge and an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from King’s College London.

Outside of work, Alec spends much of his time with his young family and at weekends can be found making dodgy decisions as a linesman at his daughter’s football matches.
