Jan Caspar Rebling
IA Director

Caspar joined Stobbs in April 2013 (no. 22) and is dual-qualified as a solicitor and trademark attorney. He is also qualified as a solicitor in Ireland and as a European lawyer (EuRAG) at the Munich bar in Germany (RAK München).

His background in commerce as a buyer has shaped his approach to and awareness of brand protection, enforcement and management with a clear focus on clients’ needs for pragmatic and result orientated strategies to legal problems. His work has led to long-standing relations with global brands in the telecoms, publishing and fashion industries.

He is bilingual in English and German. Caspar has worked closely with some of the world’s leading in-house teams on refining and improving protection of their brands as well as taking a robust but measured approach to developing consistent practices around the enforcement of their brands enabling precise budgeting and success in enforcing their brands at the same time. He tailors commercial solutions which translate into workable agreements between conflicting parties.

He has managed large pan-European Anti-Counterfeiting Programs as well as cross-border conflicts with an emphasis on customs enforcement. Caspar’s dispute practice ranges from complex opposition cases at the UKIPO, DPMA and EUIPO, going up to the Appointed Person or General Court level, as well as litigation in IPEC and in Germany. Caspar is vice chair of the “Regulatory” committee at MARQUES, assessing the impact of EU and national regulatory rules on brand owners.

Outside the office, Caspar enjoys exploring the English countryside with his family.
