Gretha Cachia

Gretha joined Stobbs as a Trade Mark Attorney in 2022 with experience in trade mark filing strategy, prosecution, opposition practice and dealing with infringements. She holds a Doctor of Laws degree (LL.D.) from the University of Malta where she also obtained a warrant to practice as a solicitor. Gretha also graduated with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property Law and IT from University College Dublin. She is eligible to practice as an EU Trade Mark Attorney and has recently qualified as an Irish Trade Mark Attorney.

Towards the end of law school, Gretha focused her studies on food law, specifically food adulteration and food fraud which relates to the authenticity of food products. It was here that she developed an interest in brands and trade marks and their value in the commercial world.

Gretha is a member of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys (APTMA) and the Malta Chamber of Advocates.

Outside of work, Gretha enjoys spending time outdoors mostly gardening and propagating plants. She enjoys cooking for friends and family and upcycling odd bits of furniture.

Favourite food?

Pasta in any shape or form.

Favourite music?

Jazz and funk music.

Favourite book?

Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami.

Favourite gadget?

Air purifier.

Favourite film?

The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Choice of night out?

Go to a live concert in a park in Dublin (like Iveagh Gardens), food truck food and lots of gin.

Choice of dress code?

Patterned shirt and jeans.

Choice of holiday?

A trip to East Asia would be great!

What sound or noise do you love? 

A soda can opening.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? 

Interior designer and have my own studio / home store / café / book shop / plant shop!
