John joined Stobbs in 2024 as an IA Manager. He is an IP litigator, specialising in soft IP disputes involving trade marks, designs or copyright before the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) and the High Court. John has a particular interest in design rights and copyright authorship issues. He advises clients across a range of sectors, including FMCG, entertainment, technology, and fashion on various issues relating to the full lifecycle of intellectual property as well a broader commercial matters.
In a previous role, John undertook a six month secondment for Pizza Hut. He completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law at Oxford University in 2022 and has contributed to the well known IPKat blog as well as writing for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice on the issue of joint authorship. John has spoken at the British Franchise Association Legal Seminar about the importance of brand protection and lessons learnt from the Colin the Caterpillar litigation.
Outside of work, John likes spending time outdoors (especially in the mountains), cycling with his family or building things at home. He enjoys playing tennis, running and watching rugby (but his playing days are behind him).

To Pixar and Beyond by Lawrence Levy, a fantastic origin story highlighting the importance of IP ownership.
