Yana Zhou

Yana joined Stobbs in 2013, following experience at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Intellectual Property Office in Australia. Yana is a qualified solicitor (England and Wales, New South Wales, Australia and Republic of Ireland) and is a registered Trade Mark Attorney in Australia. She holds an LLM in International and Comparative Intellectual Property Law.

She has experience in all aspects of trade mark practice, including national and international filings, prosecution and enforcement. Her approach is tailored, nuanced and commercial. She has a particular interest and experience in contentious UK and EUTM proceedings, having had cases progress to IPEC and the CJEU. Yana advises on complex settlement negotiations and strives for strategic and pragmatic results. She works across a number of industry sectors with a focus on social media, technology, sports, entertainment and fashion.

Yana is passionate about IP education and often speaks as a guest lecturer at universities as well as on professional development and legal training courses. She also regularly contributes articles and posts to industry and academic journals, blogs and publications.

Outside the office, Yana is a keen cook and enjoys experimenting with different cuisines from around the world. She plays the piano, speaks Mandarin Chinese and enjoys reading and travelling. Yana currently spends all her time running around her very young toddler.
