Pavan currently works as an IA Paralegal, dealing primarily with trade mark matters across several industries ranging from fashion, publishing, and retail. Having graduated in 2016 with a law degree from the University of Leicester, he worked in IP for 3 years where he was one of the managers overseeing the translation and validation of patents across Europe.
The novelty and fast-paced nature of the of the patent industry – and the IP sector in general – cemented his interest in IP and encouraged him to pursue a career in trade marks (though this was also due in part to the fact that patents are too technical for his liking). He gained a first-hand appreciation of the commercial value and significance of IP to a range of organisations, from global tech and pharma companies to SMEs, as well as an overview of the similarities between the two, for example, the legal/filing framework and constant deadlines.
Outside of work, he enjoys going to the gym, gaming, and (re)watching Peep Show and/or The Office.
