Forbes has recently published the 2015 edition of the World’s Most Valuable Brands
list. Apple comes out on top, with a brand value of a staggering USD 145.3 billion –more than double any other brand. The tech sector generally dominates, with Microsoft, Google and IBM all in the Top 5. Interestingly, the Forbes list omits some significant brands such as Huawei and Alibaba, which made BrandZ’s Top 100 (reported
here). Whilst Forbes’ methodology focuses on pure financial numbers, brand owners may also wish to place some credence in Brand Z’s more consumer-research-based approach and comparatively Asian-centric findings when formulating their IP strategies.
