Brunei Darussalam Joins the Madrid System
Brunei Darussalam has become the 98 th jurisdiction to join the Madrid System (see here). The Madrid Protocol will come into force in Brunei Darussalam on 6 January 2017.

This is welcome news for brand owners, especially those with an international presence. The Madrid System provides a cost effective and administratively efficient process that allows an applicant to apply for a trade mark in various countries by filing one international application.

The Madrid System is expanding. We have already reported on Thailand making preparations to join the Madrid System (see here) as well as Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Gambia and Algeria joining the Madrid Protocol (see here, here and here).
