World IP Day Celebrations
World IP Day Celebrations
In 2000, WIPO’s member states designated 26 April – the day on which the WIPO Convention came into force in 1970 – as ‘World IP Day’ with the aim of increasing public awareness and general understanding of intellectual property.

This year’s theme explores how innovation is making our lives healthier, safer, and more comfortable, turning problems into progress. See further details here. This is a particularly interesting theme in recent times, when we have seen companies come out with products (such as the Kindle, FitBit, Amazon Echo) and processes (such as the Amazon Go Just Walk Out shopping experience and Uber) that bring significant changes to our lives.
