Chris Murray
Operations Chief

Chris joined us in January 2019 to support Stobbs in developing the organisational requirements of an industry-leading and fast-growing organisation. He works with our HR, IT, Learning and Development, Marketing and Facilities functions.

His recent roles were in Business Operations / Commercial Excellence with two FTSE 100 healthcare organisations in AstraZeneca and Smith & Nephew focusing on improving organisational design, business performance, decision making and capability building. Prior to this, Chris has 10 years of experience in management consultancy with ZS Associates – specialising in sales, marketing and operations for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. This lead Chris to work across over 20 countries across every continent (barring Antarctica), specialising in Commercial Organisation size, structure and alignment projects, forecasting projects and qualitative and quantitative market research.

Chris has a Chemical Engineering degree from Queens’ College, Cambridge and an MBA from London Business School – where he worked with on a number of start-up companies, and completed internships with the Strategic Marketing Division of GE Energy and LOCOG – the London 2012 Olympic organising committee. In his spare time, Chris is dominated by his two daughters, manages the other animals (1 cat, 4 alpacas, too many chickens), puts finishing touches to a Grade-II listed barn conversion (it never ends…), tries to keep in reasonable shape, and attempts to arrest the decline in his golf game.

Favourite food?

Shortbread biscuits and custard (but not together... although now I come to think of it...?)

Favourite music?

Pretty varied - but Supersonic by Oasis is a highlight.

Favourite book?

The Moon's a Balloon - autobiography by David Niven. Laughs, tears, duty, luck - beautifully written and a priceless story about a brandy glass (read to the end!)

Favourite gadget?

My new heated coat. It's actually amazing.

Favourite film?

I love films - and don't want to be obvious here! For a bit of feel-good, funny, fact-based, heart-warming comfort, try The Dish (2000).

Choice of night out?

Right now, there's so many people I want to catch up with - so a meal out with friends (with the music not too loud to get in the way of the chat).

Choice of dress code?

A smart jacket covers a multitude of sins.

Choice of holiday?

[at time of writing - late Nov, cold] Warm, beach, pool, activities and/or warm with golf clubs.

What sound or noise do you love?

The sound of sellotape being pulled and cut from down the corridor - it means my eldest daughter is being creative! One of my favourite things!

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Only 5 years until I'm eligible for the Seniors PGA Tour...

Favourite brand?

Currently a big fan of Travis Mathew.
