Jacob Larking
IA Trainee

Jacob joined Stobbs in 2023 as an IA Trainee. He specialises in trade mark matters, and is interested in all areas of trade mark law, but especially fashion and evolving technologies.

Jacob graduated from a Law degree at Aston University in 2023. As part of his degree, Jacob participated in a placement year at Barker Brettell. During this year, he was the legal research assistant for the trade mark department. Following this year, Jacob was offered an extension of his contract and continued part time whilst he completed the final year of his degree. His placement presentation revolved around the complications of NFTs and the metaverse in relation to trade marks. His final year included a dissertation exploring the issues AI creates in relation to the concept of ownership from an IP perspective.

Outside of work, Jacob enjoys a multitude of hobbies. Creatively, he enjoys participating in fashion events, creating music, styling and modelling as well as painting. When he was 18, Jacob hand crafted around 30 pieces of clothing and single-handedly organised a runway event to showcase them. Athletically, Jacob enjoys bouldering; he tries to go outdoors when he can but the weather often forces indoor sessions. If he can’t climb, Jacob will be in the gym doing climbing related exercises.
